About

Jin Xie, LMSW, MSEd

I’m a licensed therapist (LMSW) in New York State who works with adolescents and adults. Growing up in the US as the child of Chinese immigrants, I developed a deep respect for how our identities and cultures influence how we connect with others, ourselves, and the institutions around us. Those experiences helped me understand the importance of feeling a sense of belonging, safety, and connection - both within ourselves and in our relationships. As a therapist, I practice from a culturally responsive framework to build a similar sense of belonging, safety, and connection within each session.

My approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic practices, and psychodynamic therapy to both reframe negative thinking patterns and support a felt sense of healing and safety in the body. I’m trained in Internal Family Systems through the IFS Institute. IFS is an evidence-based model that helps foster compassion, inner clarity, and healing by exploring the different parts of us that hold our stories, wounds, and strengths. No part of us is inherently bad; each has developed to support and protect us in the best way it knows how. This work can be especially powerful when addressing the impacts of trauma.

In addition to my work in private practice, I have worked in community mental health clinics and school-based settings. I have extensive experience supporting adolescents and adults navigating relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, and identity exploration. Before entering the therapy world, I worked as a middle school teacher, which deepened my appreciation of attachment theory, family systems, and the ways early relationships shape and influence us.

At the heart of each session, I prioritize attuning to you and collaborating with you to ensure you feel seen and heard. It’s a gift to be able to walk beside my clients in their journeys. If you are interested in seeing if we would be a good fit, I welcome you to reach out.
